Firstly, I'd like to mention that I really like how the book is set up. The last three chapters were more focused on Salander, but these chapters were more focused on Blomkvist.
Chapter 16: Does anyone think that Cecilia killed/is linked to Harriet's death? On pages 305 and 306, the description of the women in the picture is so exact, even including the height (5'7''). I think it might be here because it lead me to think, why does she lust for him so much? And I tried to go to Google Translate to translate the Swedish words at the end of the chapter, and I closest I got to something that makes sense is "R yes you k Rifa rich" from "R jo ni k rifa rik" ( 310).
Chapter 17: It was said before that Harriet became really shy right before she died. Maybe there is something written in her bible that explains it?
Chapter 18: Lisabeth should just take the job! I feel like the mystery would just come together with her because she just knows how to get things done. But I feel like she's scared that her "abilities" are slowing shrinking because she won't let go of how Blomkvist found out that she was the hacker; she asks at least three times.
Sri, i dont think cecilia killed harriet. I think there is something sketchy about her but i dont think she is the murderer. And you do find out later that that is her opening the window. and those words on the car said Norsjo snickerifabrik it was a norsjo carpentry shop you find that out on page 313.
ReplyDeleteAlso i thought it was weird that Blomkvist daughter related so much to Harriet like how close they are to religion. did anyone else find that weird. also you find out that the numbers are the chapter and versus in Leviticus and thats on page 317.
Also Lisbeth does end up taking the job in chapter 18 on page 336 she says she will take the job.
what i want to know is who broke in Blomkvist house/cabin. do you guys suspect anyone?
Also dont you think its weird that Salander has trusted Blomkvist so easily i thought it was funny thought Armansky got jealous.
Also janne Dahlman what is up with this guy? do you guys think he is working against millenium or do you think he is just a jerk that is pessimistic?
Um Sri why did Jess totally just told you Sri! But I don't think that Cecilia is the murderer either. I do think that she has information that would help the case, however. The fact that she was in Harriet's room opening the window can't be a total coincidence. She's hiding something from Blomkist and because of that I feel like it could be about a family member. Why else hide the information?
ReplyDeleteI do find it odd that Salander made such a quick relationship with Blomkvist when we've seen her distant relationships all throughout the book. Then again, with her thorough background check she had done, what would she have to worry about? He even tells her that she knows him better than anyone else. I also think she enjoys the way he just walks into her apartment. He didn't bother with social etiquette, something Salander has never seemed to be bothered with either.
I agree with Emma and Jess, Cecilia is not the murderer, she is just hiding something (it would be kind of crazy if she was the murderer though). Props to Sri for trying to translate the sticker, I'm guessing that it isn't very important since he barely said anything about it. Most likely it was just a business sticker, maybe it will be used to Identify the lady with the camera.
ReplyDeleteThe bible is just a link to the murders, at least that's what i'm getting out of it. She got caught up in something too big for her to handle and it ultimately got her killed.
To be honest, I have absolutely no idea who broke into Blomkvist's house. THere are so many characters with the motive to do so. Cecilia because she's clearly hiding something; Harold, because he's a nazi and doesn't like Mikael; also Frode, Salander (possibly), and of course the killer.
Cecilia is definitely hiding something with all of the mixed signals that she gives Blomkvist...I do have a feeling that it was her who broke into his apartment.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think that Harriet's disappearance has to do with something with her religion. If you think about it, everything about her changed when she started becoming really religious. She became more quiet and distant herself from her friends. As Joe said, she probably got herself into something that she could not handle.
