Profiling a Killer

So now the we have many more details on the killer and his victims, I thought it would be a good idea to come up with a profile of him. He has a hatred for women, seeing as he ha tortured, raped, and killed almost 10. He hates Jews, all the women have been Jewish. He's sadistic; he has burned his victims cut them, put one's head in a fire while she was alive, and many more disturbing acts. Also, the killer has some interest in the bible, at least enough to set up his murders like they were commanded by the bible. Right away one person comes to mind that fits this profile. Harold because he's a nazi and hates women to a certain degree (he calls his daughter a whore). BUT he most likely is not the killer and just an angry old nazi. Any other ideas, or additions to the profile?
Also a quick side note. I see the connection to the original title now, Men Who Hate Women. The book focuses so much on rape, assault, and murder of women. From Lisbeth's rape to the sadistic murders that paint the picture of, in the words of Salander, "A common or garden bastard who hates women" (418).

  1. Joe basally took everything I had to say, so I don't really know what else to add.

But does anyone think that the killer is a person what appears a lot in the book or only has been mentioned once?

I also feel like Salander will be the one to figure out the killer. In the book, it says "Two minutes later, she opened the door and put out her head" (382).
She's so quick on her feet and knows what she's doing. Also, she can basically seduce anyone into giving her answers.

  2. I really don't have much to add, joe covered all the details I'd have thought of. I do feel like the killer has some relation to the nazis because like joe said, all of the women were Jewish. As for your question, Sri, I dont feel that it's a character we see on a regular basis but I do believe we've met them at least 2 or 3 times.
Salanders quick wit and ability to meddle into other peoples business will definitely help her catch the killer. She also appears to be a good judge of character with her quick warming up to blomkvist. But I guess well just have to keep reading to see!

  3. Yeah I dont have anything to add but I really want to know when Wennerstorm is going to be involved more.i want to know if he has anything to do with the murders but im kind of doubtful he does. Also you guys dont think its weird that Salander developed a sexual relationship with Blomkvist? i mean he is nice to her and treats her well but i dont understand why she has warmed up to him so easily. Also the killer has to be on the island somewhere if they killed the cat. also i think things are going to get very difficult for Blomkvist and Salander in the next chapters.
